Services

Four practices, and how they work.

We scope every engagement as a fixed piece of work with a written deliverable. No open-ended retainers unless you specifically want one.

01 · Data analytics

From raw data to a number you trust.

Most organisations are not short of data. They are short of a reliable answer to a specific question. We build the smallest thing that produces that answer, then make it repeatable.

Typical deliverables

  • Data model and source-of-truth definition
  • Scheduled transformation pipelines
  • Metric definitions with owners
  • Dashboards with documented caveats
  • Runbook for routine failures
02 · Platform engineering

Internal tooling that lowers friction.

A good internal platform makes the correct thing the easy thing. We build service templates, deployment paths and self-service tooling that reduce the number of decisions a product team has to make.

Typical deliverables

  • Service scaffolding and golden paths
  • CI/CD pipeline design and migration
  • Environment and configuration strategy
  • Cost visibility per team and service
  • Developer documentation
03 · Reliability

Shorter, rarer outages.

Reliability is a practice, not a product. We help teams define what “working” means in measurable terms, then build the habits and instrumentation to hold that line.

Typical deliverables

  • Service-level objectives and error budgets
  • Observability and alerting review
  • Incident response and review process
  • Capacity and failure-mode analysis
  • On-call rotation design
04 · Technical advisory

An independent second opinion.

Sometimes the most valuable thing we do is tell a board or a CTO that a planned rebuild is not necessary, or that a vendor proposal is priced wrongly. This work is short and written.

Typical deliverables

  • Architecture and risk review
  • Build-versus-buy analysis
  • Vendor and proposal assessment
  • Cost and scaling projections
  • Written recommendation with trade-offs

Commercials

We charge a day rate or a fixed price, never both. Discovery is billed at a reduced rate and credited against the main engagement if it proceeds.

Discovery

One to two weeks. Interviews, data audit and a written problem statement with options.

Delivery

Four to sixteen weeks, in two-week increments, with a demonstrable output at each boundary.

Advisory

Five to fifteen days. A written review and a presentation to whoever needs to make the decision.

Next step

Not sure which of these you need?

Describe the symptom rather than the solution. We will tell you which practice fits, or whether the answer is none of them.
